Route description

The tour starts at the S-Bahn station Spindlersfeld and leads over the Lange Brücke to the old town of Köpenick with its Schloßinsel.

On the castle island is the only preserved baroque castle in Berlin. Today, the moated castle of the Hohenzollern dynasty houses the Museum of European Decorative Arts of the Berlin State Museums. The palace park offers charming views over the river Dahme and attracts visitors with events in summer.

The old town has a special flair: winding alleys, cobblestoned streets and a variety of nice pubs, cafes, and independent shops.

The Köpenick Town Hall became famous throughout Europe due to the trick of the cobbler Willhelm Voigt, who in 1906 dressed up as a Captain and stole the town treasury. To this day the Köpenickiade lives on in numerous performances as well as in the permanent exhibition in the Town Hall.

The tour continues over the Damm Bridge along Lindenstrasse to the mouth of the river Wuhle.  Now it gets sporty: the largest BMX and skate park (Mellowpark) as well as the Stadium “Alte Försterei” home of the Football Club Union is right next door.  For all shopping enthusiasts, a break at the Forum Köpenick is a good idea.

From the mouth of the Wuhle, the signposted cycle path leads north along the stream. You will pass an adventure playground for the little ones, the butterfly meadows with remains Germanic and Slavic settlement, and the Wuhletal Landscape Park.

It’s worth taking a detour to Biesdorf Palace Park with its castle, to the left of the Wuhletal S-Bahn and U-Bahn station, before continuing to the Gardens of the World.
